Mike's Story
In April, Mike Baxter ran the London Marathon, raising nearly £2,400 for the hospice. He wanted to say thank you for the care we gave his Dad, Alan, and tell us why he will be joining us for Lights of Love this year.

As a child, my dad Alan was my hero. I remember looking up to him, and that never changed. I thought nothing would ever beat him. Then pancreatic cancer came along. And it did. St Wilfrid’s stepped in when it became too much for us to care for him at home, and that care was first rate. Hospices are amazing places, giving that added level of support to patients and their families at the most vulnerable point in their lives.
We went to the Lights of Love service last year and it really felt like a coming together of the community. We all live such fast-paced lives, so that was my time to think. It was a really lovely experience and that’s why I’m returning again this year.
