About Lights of Love

We never forget the people we have loved; we cherish our memories, keep our photographs, share our stories and think about them often.

Remembering together

As we look towards the end of 2024, we would like to take some time to remember together and to acknowledge those we have lost. Lights of Love is a treasured time here at St Wilfrid’s and we invite you to remember your loved one by dedicating a star on our first interactive Lights of Love website. Pick your star and add the name of your loved one. If you would like to, you can add a photograph and a short message of remembrance. There it will stay, for you to come back to time and again and to share with your family and friends.

Remembrance events

Everyone is invited to join us at one of our special hospice remembrance events. With words and music we will remember together those that we have loved and lost. There is no need to book for these event; you and your family and friends are all welcome. If you are attending and require a seat (our hospice events are mostly standing) then please contact
fundraising@stwhospice.org or call 01323 434221 to reserve a place.

This year we will be hosting two events at the hospice and some of our local churches are offering remembrance services in their communities that will include Lights of Love as part of them.

Please donate to St Wilfrid's

The hospice relies on the generosity of our local community to support the work that we do. If you are able to make a donation, then please be assured that every pound will make a difference to the care we offer our patients and their families.

As we snuggled up together on two hospital beds, watching our favourite TV comedies, Andy and I roared with laughter. Just a few days later, Andy died in the hospice, but they’d given me moments to cherish.

I don’t know what I would have done without the support of the hospice. Without the doctors and nurses coming out to look after him, and having the 24-hour Nurse Line, the situation would have become almost unbearable.

This year I’ll be taking part in Lights of Love as I think it’s a perfect opportunity and place to remember Andy. It’s also a great way to give back to the hospice. We received care when we needed it because other people paid for it, and I want others to have the same

Our Lights of Love Tree

The beautiful Lights of Love tree will also stand in the hospice garden, covered in lights and stars during December. If you choose to dedicate a star today, we will also place a star on the tree in our hospice garden carrying their name.

Donate without a dedication

We rely on the support of our community for 70% of our funding and your donation will help us to enable more people to live well at the end of life. Anything you can give will be gratefully received.
