For the 3rd Year I am taking part in The Rainbow Run for St Wilfrid with my big sis &Brother , Daughter and Nieces .
St Wilfrids have been there not only me , but my late Husband and Mum .
The care , love and compassion they give makes a huge difference in a very difficult time .
Any donations small or large will make such a difference to this charity so they can continue the fantastic work they do .
In Loving Memory of Mum & Dad , Jon and dear friends who are no longer here x I love and miss you ❤️

Why I do this

Friday 30th May

I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who has already sponsored me in this year's Rainbow Run for St Wilfrid's Hospice on the 7th June ( thank you Shelley for covering x ) a charity very close to my heart .

I am sure I don't need to tell you the difference St Wilfrid's makes to patients and loved ones .

Below is the reason I run ( well fast walk , gentle jog 😂)

In 2010 my late husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer , in 2011 he was EOL care , sadly at the time St Wilfrid's only had small premises and couldn't care for him ,the alternative was a nursing home ( he was 46!) or the hospital neither of us wanted that .
So, for his finial 2 weeks I cared for him at home with the help and support of St Wilfrid's from 4 visits a day to someone sitting with him all night so I could sleep and rest.

I was so grateful and hoped and prayed I would never need to call them again .

Sadly in 2021 my Mum was terminally ill with lung cancer that had spread , as I am sure everyone remembers this was during Covid with all the restrictions, my mum was spending her finial days in a hospital with no visitors and nurses stretched to their limits .

Again, St Wilfrid's stepped in, and my mum spent her finial days being cared for with them and for us as a family knowing mum did not pass away alone made such a difference in an extremely difficult time.

The reason for this back history is that recently there was an article that St Wilfrid's like many charities is struggling , the thought of someone and their families going through such a terrible ordeal without the support makes me feel sad .
But the reality is due to cut backs this might be the case.

Any donation,  big or small would make such a difference, if you made it to the end , thank you for reading
To help me raise vital funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, please consider donating to my Rainbow Run fundraising page, using the link below. The funds raised will help the hospice to protect their services, to ensure people in the community are able to continue receiving their care, at a time when they need it most.
