The event arena will open at 11.30am. There will be a warm-up led by a professional fitness instructor at 12.45pm, before participants set-off at 1pm to run the Rainbow Run course.
Along the course, participants will go through seven colour stations - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink and purple, and our dedicated Paint Squad volunteers will cover everyone in powder paint (which is coloured corn starch) - so everyone will end up painted in their very own rainbow!
There are also two foam stations - one at the start and one at the end of the course, just before participants reach the finish line! Get painted, get foamy and have fun!
After runners have crossed the finish line, they will receieve a finisher's medal. Then, everyone is invited to join the big Paint Party, throwing more powder paint in the air and at each other.
There'll be food and drink available for purchase in the Event Village, from some of our favourite local suppliers, so you can celebrate completing Rainbow Run with some lunch and a beverage.

What happens once I have registered for the Rainbow Run?
Once you have brought your tickets and registered, you can edit your fundraising page which will have been created for you during the registration process. Share your page with friends and family and start raising funds.
You can also create a team and invite your friends and family to join it. Fundraising in a team can be easier than fundraising individually.
Once you've registered, you'll have access to some fundraising resources within your dashboard. You'll also receive a Fundraising pack in the post from us, and emails leading up to the event, with all the information you'll need to know before the event day.
Can I create a team when I register?
Yes. You'll be able to create a team within your dashboard, once you have brought your tickets and completed your own registration.
Once you've created your team, you can invite your friends and family to join it. You can either have an 'open' team in which anyone can search for your team and join it; or you can have a closed team in which people can only join it if you invite them to.
Fundraising in a team can be easier than fundraising individually, and it's a fun way to take part in the event and join together to support St Wilfrid's Hospice.
When does registration for Rainbow Run close?
You can register for the Rainbow Run up until 11.59pm on Wednesday 4th June.
Registration will re-open again, on the day of the event (Saturday 7th June), but only if the event has not already sold out. The entry fee for signing up on the day, will be an increased entry fee.
Fundraising
Do I have to collect sponsorship funds to participate in the Rainbow Run?
Rainbow Run is a St Wilfrid's Hospice fundraising event, so we ask that participant's take part with the aim and committment to collect sponsorship and raise funds for hospice care.
Your entry fees help us to cover the costs of putting on the event; meaning that the funds you raise will help us to deliver more hospice care.
We encourage all Rainbow Run participants to try and raise a minimum of £100, and we will give you plenty of support along the way to help you achieve this. If you raise £121 then you have raised enough to sponsor a nurse for a day.
What support will I get to help me with my fundraising?
We encourage all Rainbow Run participants to try and raise a minimum of £100, and we will give you plenty of support along the way to help you achieve this.
All participants will receive encouraging emails along the way, plus a fundraising pack which will be sent in the post. Within your dashboard you'll find downloadable graphics which you can use on your social media platforms, as well as other resources to help you reach your goal.
You can contact the Events Team if you have any questions or need more fundraising support, by calling 01323 434241 or emailing fundraising@stwhospice.org.
Can I use the fundraising page created during my registration, to carry out my fundraising?
Yes - absolutely! We encourage everyone taking part to use the fundraising page created for them during registration, to help them set and reach a fundraising target. As you achieve different fundraising milestones, the badges on your dashboard will light up!
We also offer fundraising incentives, in the form of branded St Wilfrid's Hospice merchandise. Keep reaching for your fundraising goals and we'll reward all your efforts!
How will the funds I raise through my participation in Rainbow Run, help?
By taking part in Rainbow Run and raising sponsorship funds, you will be supporting the clinical teams at St Wilfrid's Hospice to provide end of life care to people in our community who need it. You are also enabling the hospice to provide counselling support to patients and also bereavement support for people who have lost a loved one.
You may have seen the national campaign from Hospice UK, highlighting the serious financial challenges that hospices across the country are currently facing.
Hospices are a vital service for our health care system, yet government funding has not kept pace with rapidly rising costs over the past few years.
Overall, St Wilfrid’s Hospice running costs have gone up 14% in the past two years, and sadly this situation is unsustainable for us.
The funds you raise by taking part in Rainbow Run will help the hospice to protect our services, so that we can ensure people in our community are able to continue receiving our care, at a time when they need it most.
General
Is there car parking availabilty at Rainbow Run?
Yes, there is a large field on Nash Street Farm (where the event is held) which we use as a car park.
To reduce traffic flow and obstructiuon to the event course, we ask all event attendees to car share with other attendees, or find alternative means of travel to the event, where possible.
What should I wear on the day of the Rainbow Run?
Every participant will receieve a Rainbow Run T-shirt to wear on the day. There will be an opportunity to collect it from St Wilfrid's Hospice the week before the event, or you can pick it up on the day at the event.
You shoud wear leggings, trousers or shorts, or anything that you feel comfortable walking, jogging and running in, including comfortable and practical shoes.
We do also suggest wearing sunglasses whilst taking part in Rainbow Run, to protect your eyes from any loose powder paint in the air.
It's always a great idea to bring a change of clothes with you to swap into once you've completed the course and attended the Paint Party.
