By registering for the St Wilfrid's Hospice challenge 'A Dip a Day in March' you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the challenge, as set out below:
The event:
1. You acknowledge that 'A Dip a Day in March' is a virtual fundraising event organised by and for the purpose of supporting the charity, St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne), registered charity number 283686.
2. You acknowledge that entry into this challenge is free, but that this is a fundraising event with the expectation to fundraise for St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne).
3. You confirm that you are aged 18 or over at the time of registering for and participating in the challenge.
Fundraising:
4. You agree and accept that by registering for ‘A Dip a Day in March’, you are pledging to try and raise a minimum of £100.00 in sponsorship for St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne). You understand that the pledge target does not include Gift Aid and you agree to encourage your sponsors to Gift Aid their sponsorship donation, if they are a UK taxpayer (which will incur no extra cost to them but will enable St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) to claim an additional 25% of their donation amount from HMRC).
5. All funds raised through your participation in ‘A Dip a day in March’ 2026 must be made payable to St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) in £ sterling and should be received by St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) by Thursday 30th April 2026. The objective is to raise as much sponsorship funds as possible. All funds raised via your online fundraising page will be transferred to St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) automatically. You can pay any offline sponsorship via cheque made payable to 'St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne)', or via bank transfer, or by calling the Fundraising Team on 01323 434241. 6. You acknowledge that St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) may incur costs because of you joining this challenge (e.g. cost of producing and selling a fundraising pack/t-shirts/woolly hats). You therefore understand and accept that the objective of this event for you, the participant, is to raise as much sponsorship funds for St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) as possible.
7. You agree that you will not bring St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne)'s name into disrepute and that you will fundraise responsibly and legally. You will not do anything that may damage St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne)'s reputation or name. You agree that, in the event that St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) reasonably believes that your participation in ‘A Dip a Day in March’ 2026 may damage St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne)'s name or reputation, that you will withdraw from the challenge immediately, at the request of St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne).
7. Should you, for whatever reason, not take part in the challenge from 1st – 31st March 2026, all sponsorship forms provided to you and funds received in sponsorship before the challenge begins, should be forwarded to St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne), subject to you informing your donors that you were not able to participate in the challenge and that they may, if they wish, have their sponsorship money returned to them.
Event risks, health and safety and liability:
8. You understand that the St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne) challenge ‘A Dip a Day in March’ is a virtual event.
9. You agree that you are physically fit and in good health to safely take part in ‘A Dip a Day in March’. You have no known condition that would affect the ability to safely complete the challenge or would cause a risk of danger to yourself or others.
10. If you are unsure about whether you are physically able to participate in this challenge due to health conditions (known or unknown), then you should obtain medical advice from your own GP or medical consultant, prior to taking part in the challenge.
11. You understand that you are individually responsible for selecting a safe location to take on your cold-water dips or swims.
12. You agree that you have read the safety guidance provided on open water swimming on the RNLI website link which is provided on the St Wilfrid’s Hospice ‘A Dip a Day in March’ website, on the ‘Safety advice’ page, and agree to take responsibility for planning and undertaking safe water swims for the duration of this challenge.
13. You acknowledge that you are participating in this challenge at your own risk and that St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne) cannot be held liable for any injury, accident, loss, damage or public liability caused or sustained before, during, or after the challenge, as a result of your participation, unless caused by the negligence of St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne).
14. You understand that you are responsible for your own safety and your own actions (including the safety of your possessions) whilst undertaking this challenge.
Data collection and communications:
15. By registering for ‘A Dip a Day in March’ 2026 and providing your personal data such as your name, telephone number and email address, you understand that this is taken as your legitimate interest in being contacted by the St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) Fundraising Team for the purpose of your participation in ‘A Dip a Day in March’ 2026. You could therefore receive email, mail and telephone communication from the Fundraising Team before, during and after the challenge, in relation to your participation in ‘A Dip a Day in March’.
16. You understand and confirm that if you choose to send St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) any images or video footage of your participation in ‘A Dip a Day in March’ 2026 (by methods such as, but not limited to Facebook, email, mail), that this will be taken as your consent for St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) to use your image or video for commercial and fundraising purposes including, but not limited to, marketing materials, social media, advertising, publications, and other documents or mediums that may be made available to the public. 17. Any complaints you may have specifically relating to ‘A Dip a Day in March’ before, during or after your participation in the challenge, should be communicated to the Fundraising Team at St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) as soon as possible to help the team deal with them in a timely manner.
