A Dip a Day in March

Dip a Day in March

I'm dipping in cold water every day in March for St Wilfrid's Hospice

Throughout the whole of March, I'll be taking a cold plunge in the sea, an ice bath, a pool or a cold shower, every single day to raise vital funds for St Wilfrid's Hospice. I would be so grateful for any donation, big or small, that you can give to help me reach my target.

St Wilfrid's Hospice provides high-quality care and support for people across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Healthfield, and all points between, with life-limiting illnesses. Support is offered at the hospice, in patients' own homes, and in care homes. Over 70% of the funds to provide these services come from voluntary donations. Please help me continue to support this cause.

My Updates

Days 20, 21 and 22

Sunday 22nd Mar
Cold showers each day as I have been sneezing and been stuffy full of cold.  Looking to be back in the sea tomorrow.

Day 18 and 19

Sunday 22nd Mar
18th back in the sea, becoming my happy place, quite strong waves, breaking near the shore, sat on the beach in the surf but the breaking waves were sending us all over the place so I watched the waves and got in a bit further for a “proper” dip. I knew I would be having a cold shower on the 19th as was going out for the day. However during the day I started coming down with a cold.

Day 16 & 17

Sunday 22nd Mar
Day 16 Lovely swim on Monday with the Plungers, was planning a cold shower on Tuesday 17th as was going out for the day, but plans changed so I booked a sauna at Luna Hut and went for a cold plunge in their bath plus a cold shower after the sauna.  Bonus was a beautiful day on the beach also celebrating receiving over £400 in donations of support for the hospice.

Days 14 & 15

Sunday 15th Mar
Beautiful sunny days, on the 14th the sea was fairly calm but more waves on 15th.  It makes such a difference when the sky is blue and the sun is shining.

Days 9 - 13

Friday 13th Mar
Day 9 I was unable to go in the sea with the Plungers on Monday due to an appointment, so I had a cold shower.  On day 10, Tuesday I got to the sea, not quite as foggy as Monday and the sea was calm.
Day 11 the sea was a little choppy with a strong drag but it was fun jumping the waves, lots of shrieks from all of us in the sea. Thursday was even choppier so we couldn’t go in too deep as there was a strong drag and high waves.  Friday looked even rougher than Thursday so I stayed home and had a cold shower instead.  Hopefully will be back in the sea tomorrow.

Days 6,7 & 8

Sunday 8th Mar
Low tide at 9am at Pevensey, long walk to get fully immersed, kneeling to get shoulders under water then long walk back to get dry & warm.  Luckily I was with the wonderful Pevensey Plungers for chat & laughter as we braved the sea.

Day 5

Thursday 5th Mar
Another beautiful morning for a swim, the sun was out and the company good.

Day 4

Wednesday 4th Mar
Misty for this morning's dip, sea temp just under 10 degrees, once again with the wonderful Pevensey Plungers.

Day Three

Tuesday 3rd Mar
Lovely swim at Pevensey Bay this morning, sea was calm, the sun was shining.

Sea too rough for a dip

Monday 2nd Mar
I went along to Pevensey to plunge with Pevensey Plungers but at 9am the waves were too rough, so came home & had a cold shower.

Day One

Sunday 1st Mar
Cold shower for me today to start my challenge as the sea is looking quite rough today.  Actually the cold shower wasn't too bad, I sang along to Bryan Adams on the radio and stayed under the cold water throughout the song Run to Me.
