Walking in memory of my dad at this year's Starlight Stroll
Last minute decision to join up! I have worked at St Wilfrid's Hospice since June 2007 and in that time have taken part in many a Starlight Stroll. Although I primarily walk as a member of the team who works there I have also, always embraced walking in memory of loved ones. Over the years I have remembered many people no longer with us - my 'other' mum and dad Gwen and Jim Ball, nephews Danny and George, Auntie Jasmine and most recently Uncle David. The lantern decorated for Uncle David appeared randomly in the garage at the weekend telling me why on earth would I not do it in the year my dad suddenly died. So here we are.
Dad was always looking up and interested in what was happening at St Wilfrid's and more recently St Michael's (where I also work who have similar event at same time) so I think his pride in all my brother and I do in our respective work can comfortably support me walking in his memory on 14th September.
Dad had a kind heart and would do anything for anyone including a fair amount of fundraising in his own lifetime.
