A Dip a day in March

Dip a Day in March

Day 16 - Megan's second cold shower

Today was a cold shower for Megan due to the cold plunge tub needing refilling. Cold showers are surprisingly the least favourable option for cold dipping - who knew that sitting in a tiny tub of freezing cold water could be better than a cold shower?! Over halfway there now though!

Day 15 - Back to the cold showers

Day 15...

Beth's solo turn again today,  and not able to make it out to plunge in Megan's garden and too grey, rainy and rough for the sea...

So it was a cold shower at home again. Not the nicest or most fun way to take on the challenge, but it's another day down and we're halfway through the challenge now!

Same view, different day - 14th March

Beth's optimistic walk down to the sea!

Saturday Sea Dip Selfie - 14th March

Day 14 - Beth and Meg's joint day of dipping

Day 14...

It was such a beautiful sunny day on Saturday, so we decided to get down to the sea and take a sea dip together and also get in the cold plunge tub at the Luna Hut sauna...

Sea was definitely colder than the plunge tub and quite rough too, but it was still enjoyable doing this together and in the sunshine!

Day 13 - Cold plunge in the pool at the gym

Day 13...

Beth couldn't get to the sea or Megan's house to use the cold plunge tub in the garden, so she went to the swimming pool and got very hot in the sauna before jumping under a freezing cold shower and then into the cold pool!

Also managed a little swim after this too.

No photos as they don't allow photos to be taken at the poolside!

Day 12 - Megan's morning dip

Day 12...

We're well over a third of the way through now and it's not getting any easier even if Megan does look happy again today.

Megan decided to do a morning dip and get it out of the way for the day.

You've all helped us raise over £300 for the hospice now, so thank you so much. It's making all of the cold plunges very worthwhile for us!

Day 11 - Beth in the sea

Day 11...

Beth had a day off and it happened to be warm and sunny, so a good day to dip in the sea!

Can confirm that it was indeed very cold still!

Day 10 - Megan in the tub again

Day 10...

It was another day in the cold plunge tub in the garden again for Megan on day 10.

She looks pretty happy and comfortable, but she said it's still really freezing and not easy!

Day 9 - Beth's first dip in the cold plunge tub

Day 9...

It was a cold and misty Monday morning, but a cold plunge had to be taken today... so it was a 7.30am trip to Megan's house for Beth to get in the cold plunge tub!

It was freezing at first, but I managed just under 4 mins. It does get easier the longer you're able to stay in it!

Day 8 - Megan braves the sea

Day 8....

Megs has braved Eastbourne's sea on a very misty and rather cold March day.

What a good way to mark International Women's Day by this bold woman making waves in the sea to help raise funds for hospice care and support others who need the help of the hospice.

She had quite a big audience too!

Day 7 - Second cold shower for Beth

Day 7...

Couldn't get to the sea, sauna or Megan's garden to cold dip today, so I (Beth) had to brave another cold shower..

Managed about 90 seconds. These are definitely my least favourite form of the cold plunge challenge.. but I did it!

Day 6 - Megan in the cold plunge tub.. again

Day 6...

And Meg went for the cold plunge tub in the garden once again for today's immersion into the icy depths... after a 7k run, which made for a more welcoming relief.

Thank you for all of our donations so far - we are so grateful to have already raised £140 for hospice care.

Day 5 - Beth's first cold shower

Today Beth braved the first cold shower for her challenge... and it was not fun! Can confirm that this was worse than a full body plunge into a cold tub of water!

Beth will aim to do as few as possible cold showers for the rest of the month!

But it's all for the cause of raising funds for hospice care, and we're really grateful for all of the fundraising donations given to us, so far!

Day 4 - Megan's in the cold plunge tub at home

Day 4... Someone in our team (kindly) brought us this ice plunging tub and gently encouraged us to take on this challenge. So this was Megan's first experience in the tub... She found it rather freezing! 4 days down, 27 to go!

Day 3 - Beth's second time in the cold plunge tub

Day 3... Another dip in the cold plunge tub at the Luna Hut. I think my face shows again how cold it was! However, it was slightly easier than the first day!

Day 2 - Megan's first day of the challenge

Day 2 - Megan's cold shower...

Megs eased her way into the challenge with an evening ice cold shower! She found it very tough.... very cold indeed!

Day 1 - Beth's cold plunge

Day 1 of the challenge... Beth took on day 1.... using the cold plunge tub at the Luna Hut on Eastbourne seafront. As you can see from my face... it was extremely cold!

A Dip a Day in March - Megan and Beth’s cold plunge challenge

We’re taking this on as a team, a team of sisters, but also a team of co-workers. We want to experience what our amazing supporters are going to be experiencing, and help raise whatever we can to support the work of the hospice that we’re both very proud to work for. We’ll be taking the dips in turns to help make it more manageable, but we might do some dips together too. Wish us luck!

We're dipping in cold water every day in March for St Wilfrid's Hospice

Throughout the whole of March, as a team we will be taking a cold plunge in the sea, an ice bath, a pool or a cold shower every single day, to raise vital funds for St Wilfrid's Hospice. We would be so grateful for any donation, big or small, that you can give to help us reach our target.

St Wilfrid's Hospice provides high-quality care and support for people across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Healthfield, and all points between, with life-limiting illnesses. Support is offered at the hospice, in patients' own homes, and in care homes. Over 70% of the funds to provide these services come from voluntary donations. Please help us continue to support this cause.
