Walking in memory of my grandad, Jim Hammersley
This year, I’m taking part in the St Wilfred’s Starlight Stroll to raise money for the hospice that cared so wonderfully for my grandad, Jim Hammersley.
St Wilfrid’s provided incredible support during his last couple of years with us. They visited him multiple times a day, cared for him with compassion and helped my nan as she looked after him at home. When the time came, he was transferred to the hospice, which gave my nan the chance to simply be his wife on his final day, rather than his carer. For that, we will always be grateful.
I’ll be doing the stroll alongside my husband and my nan (who we’ll proudly be pushing in her wheelchair), walking under the stars in Jim’s memory.
We’re aiming to raise at least £150, but we’d love to go beyond that to help St Wilfrid’s continue their amazing work for other families who need them.
