Camino 2027 - Week 1

When I first heard about the Camino de Santiago trek that was being organised by the hospice I got all over body chills. There was such a resonance and I thought yes I’m sure I can do that. Many of the other more challenging fund raising opportunities past me by but this year I did the fire walk and helped raise much needed funds. 

It has been an honour to work at the hospice as part of a multi disciplinary team - all of whom are earth angels and I have been there for 21 years to date. I see first hand the love, dedication and care given to patients and their families and I would love to be part of helping raise money for St Wilfrid’s. It is still a misconception that the hospice is funded by the nhs which is merely just a fraction we receive as we rely heavily on the generosity from our local community for donations. 
Doing the Camino trek is going to be a challenge for me in many ways but I hope by taking on this challenge I will be able to give back in some way to the hospice I love so dearly. I will be walking in memory of all those patients I have had the privilege to work with through the last two decades.

I'm trekking from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, following the centuries old paths of pilgrims in support of St Wilfrid's Hospice

St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) provides high-quality care and support for people with a life-limiting illness, across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield, and all points in between.
To help me raise vital funds for the hospice, please consider donating to my Camino 2027 fundraising page.
