Camino 2027 - Week 2

I'm trekking from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, following the centuries old paths of pilgrims in support of St Wilfrid's Hospice

St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) provides high-quality care and support for people with a life-limiting illness, across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield, and all points in between.
To help me raise vital funds for the hospice, please consider donating to my Camino 2027 fundraising page.

The funds raised will help the hospice to protect their services, and ensure people in the community are able to continue receiving their care, at a time when they need it most.
Thank you.

For Mum and St Wilfrid's Hospice

Wednesday 5th Aug
Next year, my brother Robert and I have signed up to walk the final 100km of the Camino de Santiago to raise money for St Wilfrid's Hospice.

We're taking on this challenge in memory of our mum, Sarah McStravick, who passed away in February 2025 after being cared for by the incredible team from St Wilfrid's Hospice during her battle with cholangiocarcinoma. We'll always be grateful for the compassion, dignity and support they gave, when it was needed most.

Anyone who knew Mum knows she had an adventurous spirit. She loved travelling, discovering new places and throwing herself behind a good cause. Mention a demonstration and she'd have her walking shoes on immediately, 100km though? She'd probably have taken the train. And been far more enthusiastic about the prospect of tapas and wine at the end of each day (as are we). I am sure, knowing we are doing this would have made her very proud.

We're walking because it feels like the right way to honour her. It's an adventure, for a fantastic cause, and it gives us time to reflect on how lucky we were to have her as our Mum.

Every donation will help St Wilfrid's Hospice continue providing the outstanding care they give to patients and families facing the most difficult times. We know first-hand how much that care means.
Thank you so much for supporting us, whether through a donation, sharing our page or cheering us on from afar.
Every step will be for Mum ❤️
